If you like to have a fishing lake on site when you’re travelling in your tourer, it’s fair to say that you’ll probably be very happy indeed with a stay at Woodlands Fishery, on the edge of the Lincolnshire town of Spilsby.
And that’s because this 12-acre country park is home to a peaceful carp and coarse fishery complex that’s got not one, not even two, but a splendid five different lakes for pleasure anglers to choose from. Owners Pam and Kieran always do their utmost to ensure this is a top-notch experience for all guests, keeping the lakes well stocked with carp, perch, bream, tench, rudd and other species.
You’ll need to bring a licence along if you’d like to fish, and agree to the catch-and-release policy; tackle and baits are available at the shop, along with snacks and drinks, and there are accessible platforms so everyone can join the fishing fun.
Not into fishing? No problem – there are plenty of other ways to fill your time nearby. The site is on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, with lots of lovely footpaths to follow for scenic walks, and there are attractions nearby like the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre or the National Trust’s Gunby Estate. And as Skegness is a mere 20 minutes’ drive away there’s also scope for a day at the seaside.
Closer to home, a 10-minute walk takes you to the town centre for shops, cafés, takeaways and the Monday market. Facilities on site include a launderette, a washing-up area and a toilet block with underfloor heating. Touring pitches all have electric and water supplies plus waste disposal.
