🌳 About Woodlands 🌳

Our gates and shop open daily from 7:00am. We look forward to welcoming you, but don’t arrive any earlier, because there’s a good chance we’ll still be asleep!

One of the things our guests love most about Woodlands is the wildlife. Depending on the time of year, you may spot: • Kingfishers • Barn owls • Tawny owls • Roe deer • Muntjac deer • Badgers • Foxes • Canada geese • Greylag geese • Tufted ducks • Mallards • Coots • Moorhens • Red kites • Plus plenty of other birds, insects and native wildlife throughout the site. Nature is a huge part of what makes Woodlands special, so don’t forget your camera!

Our touring site, Ash Lake and Hawthorn Lake are adults only (16+) to provide a peaceful and relaxing environment for guests. However, we’re not exclusively adults only. Families are welcome to enjoy day ticket fishing on Willow, Elm and Oak Lakes, provided children are well supervised and respectful of other anglers and visitors.

Yes. Serenity and tranquillity are at the heart of what we offer. Whether you’re fishing, relaxing in one of our lodges or staying on the touring site, we ask all guests to respect one another so everyone can enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

We’re a small, family-run business that genuinely cares about what we do. Set within 12 acres of established lakes and natural surroundings, Woodlands offers a peaceful escape with quality facilities, excellent fishing and a warm welcome. We never stand still either, we’re always investing in the site and looking for ways to make every visit even better than the last.

Absolutely. In fact, couples are our biggest audience. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing touring break, a peaceful lakeside lodge with a private hot tub or simply somewhere to unwind in nature, Woodlands is the perfect place to switch off and recharge.

We like to think it’s the little things. We’re not a large commercial holiday park with hundreds of pitches. Instead, we’re a family-run site where you’ll deal directly with the owners, enjoy spacious fully serviced pitches, quality facilities and peaceful surroundings. Add in five fishing lakes, abundant wildlife, luxury lodges and a genuine passion for constantly improving the site, and we think it makes Woodlands a little bit different.

Of course. We’d be delighted to show you around. Simply call into the shop when you arrive and, if we’re available, we’ll happily show you the site, answer any questions and help you decide whether Woodlands is the right fit for you.

Woodlands Fishery is home to five lakes, each offering something a little different. Willow Lake – Just under half an acre and around 5ft deep. A traditional mixed coarse lake with excellent stocks of roach, rudd, perch, crucians, skimmers and gudgeon, plus bream and tench to around 4lb. Perfect for a relaxing day’s fishing. Elm Lake – Similar in size to Willow but slightly deeper at around 6ft. A beautiful old-school coarse fishery with double pegs, regular kingfisher sightings and stocks of roach, rudd, crucians, perch, gudgeon and skimmers. Oak Lake – Around half an acre and approximately 8ft deep. Our most diverse lake with 14 different species, including common, mirror, ghost and koi carp, tench, eels, ide, dace, roach, rudd, perch, bream and more. A fantastic choice if you enjoy mixed fishing. Ash Lake – Around half an acre and 7ft deep. An adults-only lake offering excellent carp sport, with plenty of fish under 15lb alongside healthy stocks of roach, perch and skimmers. Also home to our luxury holiday lodges. Hawthorn Lake – Our largest lake at just over an acre. A dedicated specimen carp lake with fish approaching 29lb, designed for anglers looking to target bigger carp in peaceful surroundings.

We’d usually recommend Willow Lake or Oak Lake for beginners. Willow offers consistent action with traditional coarse species, while Oak provides plenty of variety. Elm is slightly more challenging but rewards anglers with a beautiful setting and some fantastic fishing.

Hawthorn Lake is our specimen carp water and is home to carp approaching 29lb. If you’re looking to target your next personal best, this is the lake for you.

Willow, Elm, Oak and Ash all offer excellent pleasure fishing, each with its own character. If we had to choose, we’d probably recommend Willow for traditional mixed coarse fishing or Ash if you’d like the chance of catching plenty of carp alongside quality silver fish.

Across our five lakes you’ll find a wide variety of species, including: • Common carp • Mirror carp • Ghost carp • Koi carp • Pure crucian carp • Tench • Roach • Rudd • Perch • Bronze Bream • Skimmer bream • Ide • Dace • Gudgeon • Eels Whether you’re chasing a specimen carp or simply enjoying a relaxing day’s coarse fishing, there’s a lake to suit every angler.

It depends what you’re looking for. If you want plenty of action, Ash Lake is our best runs water, with lots of carp to keep you busy. If you’re hoping to catch your biggest-ever carp, Hawthorn Lake is the place to be, with fish approaching 29lb. Oak Lake also holds carp, making it a great mixed fishery if you enjoy catching a variety of species throughout the day.

If you’re not sure where to start, just ask. Whether you’re introducing someone to fishing, targeting specimen carp, or simply looking for a relaxing day’s pleasure fishing, we’ll happily recommend the lake that best suits your experience and what you’d like to catch.
